Avalon is a beautiful real time simulation game which is based on the Virtual Villagers theme but transports you into a realm of magic and fantasy. You assume the role of the Fairy Queen and do all you can to restore Fairy kingdom back to its original glory. With the boom in population, fairies are finding it difficult to locate the elements needed for them to flourish. You need to use the right strategies to manage all the available resources and transform the fantasy world back to its former self.

There are 3 main resources in the game for you to manage: food, pollen and magic. The food gathered from berry bushes helps in sustenance, pollen can make new fairies thereby expanding the community and magic is needed to complete all other special interactions with other items on the screen. There are different sets of tasks to be completed and you can assign the same to a fairy or a group of them. As the fairies perform the tasks they gain experience in collecting, researching or chanting and go on to become specialists in a particular skill area. Every task and fairy has specific traits and the game is best played when the right match between the two is made.

There are mini-games that help you increase the speed of production at a particular center. Some tasks must be completed in order to clear other areas for exploration. The mini-games are fun and varied ranging from using little fans to direct floating pollen into different flowers to gathering falling balls into a flower cup or attempting to predict what will happen next based on a musical pattern. The mystical aura of the magical world in the game is enhanced by the lovely fantasy inspired music. The game runs in real time and has a slow and relaxed pace which would suit most casual gamers.
